Hi, I am Courtney!
Welcome friends to A Baker’s Scoop. A place where a home baker can learn new tricks and techniques for the kitchen. Giving you all the SCOOP from a professional kitchen.
I started baking at home over 9 years ago. I taught myself by simply reading the recipe or watching a Youtube video. I made cakes for family birthdays and special occasions. I enjoyed it so much that I decided this is what I want to do for my career! I created a portfolio of all my desserts and applied to bakeries. With no degree or professional experience I wasn't sure if anyone would take a chance on me, until I met Joanne Canady-Brown. She is the owner of The Gingered Peach located in Lawrenceville, NJ. I have been working for her for almost 8 years now. One year and some change as one of the lead bakers! (I will go into more detail about my experiences there as I continue with my blogs.)
When I am not at The Gingered Peach, I am a fiance and mom of 2 little boys! They are my everything! The one thing I knew I always wanted to be since I was a little girl- a mom!
I have decided to start this blog to show that any beginner, self taught home baker can become professional or if you don’t want to become professional, you can still look the part! With these simple tricks and techniques that I learned.
If you continue to follow my blog, I will be sharing basic tips and tricks, favorite equipment and ingredients, MY personal recipes, holiday ideas, MY experiences in a professional kitchen, trying trendy desserts, baking with kids and any other baking topics I can think of!
